"So who is this 'Margaret Y. Chu,' anyway?  What's she all about?"

Getting to the root of project management issues is Margaret's professional mission.  Her home page revolves around an article she wrote that projects her message clearly.

Product promotion is also important.  This page promotes one of her books in the lower left, with a link to amazon.com.

Margaret's humor and whimsy are reflected in the illustrations, created by her sister, Rita Asia Lee.

All components of a project must harmonize—fit together well and flow smoothly.  The colors for this site reflect this peace and harmony.  However the highlights are in a dark shade of red for authority.  Subtle textures add depth and richness.

What does every project manager need?  A checklist and yellow highlighter, of course!  Margaret's organization affiliation links get checked and highlighted when selected with the mouse pointer.

The links on the bar light up when selected.

Article Continuation

"Maybe I could skip ahead to the part about cost.  If I can afford it, I'll check the requirements."

The article from the home page is shown in full on this page.  Since the article is fairly long, I framed it on this page so that the reader can scroll through it, and the subheading links are always accessible on the left for quickly jumping to topics of particular interest.

The standard banner for inside pages provides visual continuity.  The worms are a theme from Margaret's book, Blissful Data, where they are used to denote "something to remember."

Articles Page

"This is good stuff.  Has she written any other articles?"

The viewer can get to the same article via the ARTICLES link.  There are two articles listed here (and more on the way).  A click on either the title or the picture will display the corresponding article.

Custom Graphic Illustrations

When I read this part of the article, I thought, "What's needed here is a brain file."  So I created one.

Startling images like this one help burn the main points of your website into your audience's awareness, whether you're writing an article, selling a product, trying to inform or educate, or entertaining.  So the next time they pull out their brain files, your website will have a big, red tag on it.

"I looked at a few sites with books about data warehouses.  I remember one that had a picture of a baby with a beer glass.  That one looked interesting.  I don't remember the other ones too well."

Another fish hooked and landed.

Not to overlook Margaret's engaging prose, of course.  My aim is to become my clients' web-designing counterpart, to augment their strengths and make myself a valued member of their winning team.

Product Page

"Okay, she's all about project management.  So where are her books?"

This page has a description for each of Margaret's books, and a link to a book seller's site.

For your products, you might need an order form online that your customers can use.  Not to worry, I'll take care of that for you.

Credentials

"Hey, I found somebody on the web who could help us get things organized around here.  Hold on, I'll print out her resumé."

There's a link at the top that displays the document in rich-text format (RTF).  RTF files are sort of "generic" formatted documents that can be easily displayed by most major word processing programs.  This allows companies that might be interested in Margaret's services to print a copy of her resumé without the web page graphics, or save it in a document file to e-mail to Contracts staff for follow-up.

Memoirs

"That Margaret Chu seems like an interesting person.  I'd like to know more about her."

After reading a good book, we like to find out more about what makes the author tick.  Margaret accommodates us with some personal glimpses.

Site Search

"Let's see—where was that blurb about diapers and beer?"

There's a lot of content on this site, and you might like to come back later and re-read something.  But where did you see it?  The Site Search page helps narrow down the choices.
